Case study · Local SEO
This local SEO case study shows how we helped La Isla Adventures, a jet ski, tour and concierge company in San Pedro, Belize, move from page two of Google to page one. Every number here comes straight from the site's own Google Search Console account.

These are the headline results of this local SEO case study, taken from Google Search Console. Tourism is seasonal, so we compare the same months one year apart wherever we can.
The client behind this local SEO case study is La Isla Adventures, based in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye in Belize. They offer premium jet ski and jet car rentals, plus a concierge service that connects visitors with tours, dining, family activities and local experiences.
Most of their customers plan a trip before they arrive, which means Google is often the very first place they meet the business. Searches like jet ski rental San Pedro, parasailing in Belize or boat rental San Pedro come from people who are ready to book.
In mid 2025 the site was averaging around position 19 on Google. That put most of its pages on page two, while competitors and big booking platforms took the clicks on page one.
The chart below is the heart of this local SEO case study. It uses the real daily data from Google Search Console, added up by month. Watch the ranking line jump between September and October 2025, then hold near page one for the rest of the year.

June 2025 data starts on 10 June. Monthly positions are averages weighted by impressions, so they can differ slightly from Search Console's own totals.
Proof matters in any local SEO case study. This screenshot is the source for every figure in this local SEO case study. It is the unedited 16 month performance report for laislaadventures.com. The orange line is average position, and the blue and purple lines are clicks and impressions.

June to September 2025. The starting point for this local SEO case study. The site averaged positions between about 18 and 20, and from July to September monthly clicks ranged from about 200 to 280.
October 2025. The ranking line jumped to an average position of about 9 in a single month, moving most pages onto page one of Google.
December 2025 to April 2026. High season arrived with the site already ranking well. January 2026 became the best month for clicks at 573, more than double July 2025.
May to September 2026. Rankings held between about 8 and 9, apart from a short dip in May, and June 2026 brought the most impressions of any month at 9,278. July to September 2026 delivered 36% more clicks than the same months a year earlier.
Across the twelve months after the jump, the site averaged 54% more clicks per month than in the summer of 2025. That steady hold is the most encouraging part of this local SEO case study.
Local SEO for a tourism business is about relevance and trust. Google needs to understand exactly what you offer, where you offer it and why visitors can rely on you.
We connected Google Search Console, recorded the starting numbers and listed the technical and content issues holding the site back.
We fixed indexing problems, submitted clean sitemaps, improved page speed on mobile and added structured data so Google understands the business, its location and its activities.
Each activity, from jet skis to parasailing and kayaks, was given clear titles, descriptions and headings that use the words visitors search for, including San Pedro, Ambergris Caye and Belize.
Guides and recommendation pages answer the questions visitors ask while planning a trip, which builds relevance for the whole island and gives Google more reasons to trust the site.
We connected related activities and made sure every important page leads clearly to booking or contact, so rankings turn into real enquiries.
Every month we review the data, compare it with the same season, report what moved and choose the next priorities.
To keep this local SEO case study fair, we compared the same season one year apart: July to September 2025 against July to September 2026. A lower position number means the site appears higher on Google.

| Keyword group | Position before | Clicks, before and after | Position after |
|---|---|---|---|
| boat rental searches | 38.2 | 8 to 16 | 8.1 |
| san pedro searches | 25.5 | 83 to 82 | 10.2 |
| kayak searches | 21.6 | 3 to 4 | 10.0 |
| parasailing searches | 18.5 | 5 to 13 | 8.2 |
| jet ski searches | 13.0 | 83 to 62 | 8.6 |
| sea lounge searches | 3.7 | 69 to 31 | 2.7 |
These are the top searches that sent people to laislaadventures.com over the last 16 months. In this local SEO case study, almost all of them are searches from people planning activities in San Pedro, and most rank in the top five.
| Search | Clicks | Impressions | Average position |
|---|---|---|---|
| la isla adventures | 329 | 552 | 1.2 |
| sea lounge belize | 265 | 875 | 2.4 |
| jet ski rental san pedro belize | 101 | 1,254 | 3.9 |
| jet ski san pedro belize | 94 | 565 | 5.9 |
| sea lounge belize san pedro | 88 | 423 | 2.7 |
| san pedro jet ski rental | 51 | 466 | 7.5 |
| parasailing san pedro belize | 47 | 702 | 6.5 |
| kayak rental san pedro belize | 43 | 272 | 4.7 |
| boat rental san pedro belize | 42 | 555 | 4.6 |
| jet ski belize | 39 | 1,038 | 3.2 |
Rankings improved for every keyword group we tracked, but clicks did not rise for all of them. Jet ski searches and Sea Lounge searches brought fewer clicks this summer than last, even with better positions.
Tourism demand changes from year to year, and Google now shows more maps, ads and AI answers above the normal results, which takes some clicks away from every website. Overall, though, the site still earned 36% more clicks and 55% more impressions in the same season.
A good local SEO case study should show the dips as well as the peaks. We would rather share real data with context than a cherry picked chart.
Tourism is one of the hardest areas for a small local business on Google. Large marketplaces, review sites and travel blogs publish thousands of pages and spend heavily on advertising, so they often fill the first page of results.
The way to compete is not to copy them, but to be more specific. A marketplace page about Belize lists hundreds of tours. A local operator page can explain one activity in one place, with real photos and a direct way to book. Google rewards that kind of focus when the page clearly matches what the searcher wants.
That is the approach behind this local SEO case study. Each activity page speaks directly to visitors planning a trip to San Pedro, and the results show that a local company can hold top five positions for its most valuable searches, right next to the biggest names in travel.
We judge every local SEO project on four numbers from Google Search Console: clicks, impressions, average position and click rate. Clicks show real visitors, impressions show how often Google offers your pages and position shows how high you appear.
For a seasonal business, we always compare each period with the same months a year earlier. That is why this local SEO case study compares July to September 2025 with July to September 2026, rather than a quiet month with a busy one.
We also watch the searches that bring in bookings, such as jet ski rental San Pedro Belize. A 5.7% click rate across 96,300 impressions shows that when the site appears, people choose it.
Page one is a strong position, but the top three spots earn most of the clicks. The next phase of this local SEO case study focuses on moving the activity pages that sit between positions five and ten into the top three.
That means richer activity pages with more photos, answers to common visitor questions and clearer booking calls to action. It also means building more local trust signals, so Google sees La Isla Adventures as the go to source for adventures on Ambergris Caye.
We will keep comparing each season with the same months a year earlier, and we will update this local SEO case study as new results come in.
Name the place. The clearest lesson from this local SEO case study is that visitors search with locations in mind. Pages that clearly mention the town, island and country match those searches far better.
Give every service its own page. One page per activity lets Google rank each one for its own searches.
Answer planning questions. Guides and recommendations bring in visitors early in their research, long before they are ready to book.
Compare like with like. In a seasonal business, compare each month with the same month last year, as this local SEO case study does.
This local SEO case study is written for tour operators, rental companies, hotels, restaurants and any service business that depends on people in a specific place finding it on Google.
It is also useful for owners who already have a decent website but feel invisible next to big booking platforms. The results show that a focused local business can still win page one positions for the searches that matter most.
Finally, it is for anyone who wants SEO results they can check for themselves. Every figure here can be traced back to Google Search Console.
